Developer Ascendant Studios—which recently released Immortals of Aveum—has announced that it is laying off around 45 percent of its team. Studio CEO Bret Robbins made the announcement over social media platform X, calling it a difficult but necessary decision.
“Today, we are heartbroken as we part ways with friends and colleagues at Ascendant Studios – about 45% of our team,” reads the statement by Robbins. “This was a painfully difficult, but necessary decision that was not made lightly; nevertheless, we have to make this adjustment now that Immortals of Aveum has shipped.”
While Robbins has stated that the layoffs have affected almost half the team, the CEO hasn’t revealed the concrete number of employees that have been let go from the studio.
Immortals of Aveum was released on PC and consoles back in August, and has since seen updates and fixes that focus on making improvements to graphics on consoles. An update from earlier this month focused on improving FPS drops and stuttering on the Xbox Series S version of the game.
