To say Genshin Impact took the world by storm when it was released would be an understatement. However, I think the most surprising part of the launch was just how much further it went than gaming. There have been concerts, art shows, massive conventions, and now, the 2024 Genshin Impact Fan Art Special Program.
Genshin Impact is, in my biased opinion, a fantastically beautiful game, so it is no wonder that fans have all flocked to work on their own little art projects for it. Instead of clamping down on it or ignoring it, HoYoverse instead has embraced it, putting together a program to celebrate their fandom.
On April 13th at 20:00 (UTC+8) on YouTube, Twitch, TikTok, and Twix, HoYoFair 2024’s Genshin Impact Fan Art Special Program will go live, and last for an hour. During this showcase, over ten derivative short films made by fans and content creators, including Amatsuki, dillongoo, and 96NEKO, will air for all to see.
Whilst ten might not sound like a lot, it certainly didn’t to me to begin with because I am not a video creator, their films are the result of hundreds of fans’ hard work. Behind the scenes, there are dozens of jobs from film writing, directing, animating, modelling, composing, recording, voice acting, and more. It is truly impressive dedication and all the more commendable for HoYoverse to throw their fans their own film festival.
Kicking off in 2021, the HoYoFair is a yearly event for talented fans of the Genshin Impact to flex their creative muscles and make the rest of us feel dumb for only being able to draw stick figures. It’s a fantastic way to honour fans and let’s face it, it’s some bloody good free publicity for HoYo.
Genshin Impact is available to download from the App Store and Google Play.
