Everything you need to know about the A Universal Time Haki system is in this guide! From upgrading your Haki, to unlocking all 3 types, I’ve gone over every possible thing you may have questions about in regards to the One Piece-inspired abilities.

Start the Haki grind now in A Universal Time! If you’re new to AUT, you’ve probably noticed how expansive the game is with a variety of franchises. That’s why we’ve got a few guides on offer, such as our How to Get the World in A Universal Time walkthrough.

A Universal Time Haki

To start, let’s look at what Haki is in general. One Piece fans will already know what this is, but to put it simply, it unlocks new abilities for you based on the Haki you have. In total, there are 3 types of Haki:

  • Haoshoku Haki (Hao Haki)
  • Busoshoku Haki (Buso Haki)
  • Kenbunshoku Haki (Ken Haki)

How to Unlock Haki

In A Universal Time, you must complete the quest for Buso Haki before you even think about unlocking the other 2. Next up is the Ken Haki quest, and then Hao Haki!

Buso

For this Haki type, and the first one you need to unlock, you must speak to Agent Bon at the Docks. He tends to stand behind some crates and wears a full suit with a cap, and sunglasses, with a pistol in one hand.

Agent Bon asks you to defeat 100 Pirates and kill the Kuro of a Hundred Plans boss, who is level 120 and located in Syrup Village. You need to do the ‘Save the Village quest’, given by Usopp, to unlock this boss fight.

Ken

To unlock the Ken Haki, you must first find the Murimasu NPC in the Skatepark, standing by a bin. His questline involves killing 250 Pirates, defeating the level 75 Crocodile boss in Alabasta and also the level 100 Surgeon of Death (Law from One Piece) boss fight in Punk Hazard.

Hao

And lastly, the Hao Haki. BobBallin gives you the quest for this one, who is found close by to the podium for Gamemodes. He has blue and black deer horns and blue swirls on his arms! With this being the last Haki questline after completing both Buso and Ken, his tasks are a little more involved than the previous ones.

BobBallin gives you the task to kill 500 Pirates and beat the level 150 Luffy boss in Orange Town. Next, you must defeat the level 150 Shanks in Orange Town, and lastly, the Whitebeard boss in Marineford.

Haki Abilities

Here’s what you can do with each Haki!

Buso Abilities

  • It buffs your damage and reduces damage taken for a while
    • You can increase the length of this buff by upgrading your Haki

Hao Abilities

  • Unleash red Haki to create a shockwave, ragdolling all nearby enemies
    • Upgrading this Haki increases the range of the shockwave

Ken Abilities

  • You can see the stats (including HP) of those close by
  • You’re invincible for a few seconds
  • Cooldowns are reduced
  • Your screen gets a filter when Ken is active, which can be annoying but can be lessened by upgrading the Haki

Upgrading Haki

As mentioned above, you need to upgrade your Haki to increase its usefulness. To do this, you use Training Manuals for that specific Haki, as well as Haki Shards. The manuals and shards are Loot Crate drops. You cannot guarantee which manuals you’ll get, so it’s all down to RNG.

Visit the Rayleigh NPC in the City to use the Training Manuals to upgrade your Haki. You can also roll for a new Haki color if you wish to do so by speaking with this NPC!
