The many things you can do in Starfield are vast, from simple things to looting barren planets for upgrades for your gear and weapons, to building yourself a massive ship and taking on everyone you can find in space, the choice is yours to make. While all of these grand adventures are great by themselves, sometimes you need to have a little fun while playing Starfield. What better way to have fun than to put a bucket on somebody’s head and talk to them about a serious matter like buying a weapon or a med pack or five. Here’s our guide on how to put a bucket on an NPC in Starfield.

How to put a bucket on an NPC in Starfield

The first thing you need to do to be able to put a bucket on an NPC in Starfield is to actually find a bucket, which for some reason was pretty hard for me. I don’t know if it was because I was looking in the wrong places, but I eventually found two buckets in Akila City, one being in the general store and the other being in the weapons store. There’s also the risk that someone will catch you “stealing” the bucket by picking it up and moving it, but the two in those shops in Akila City don’t have that issue. When I picked one up from outside the weapons shop, I did get “caught stealing,” so be careful about that.

After you do that, you can consult our guide on how to move objects in Starfield for how to pick up the bucket that you’ll place on the NPC. But once you pick up the bucket, you’re going to need to get it into a position that’s able to be placed onto an NPC’s head. Therefore, you’ll probably need to try and rotate it so that it’s upside down. To do this, you can either rotate it yourself using the corresponding buttons, or just drop it from a reasonably high height, and hope that it turns around. You can get the bucket onto an NPC in Starfield without needing to do this, but it is a lot easier if you have it lined up correctly.

Once you line the bucket up correctly to lower it onto an NPC in Starfield, all you need to do now is place it carefully on their head. I have the best luck lowering it down from above, and it seems to work pretty flawlessly for me. I do have one problem after putting the bucket onto an NPC’s head though, and that is that I can’t seem to get it off easily. The first person I put a bucket on, I couldn’t grab it again whatever I tried, but the second person allowed me to grab it, so I think that’s up to luck.

Starfield is available for purchase on Steam.
