How to Get the Alte Roite Mount
Like many MMORPGs, Final Fantasy 14‘s raids give players the chance to challenge high-level end game bosses for a chance at exclusive loot found nowhere else in the game. While the game’s normal raids reward players with entry level gear for the raid’s level bracket, the punishingly difficult savage raids raises the stakes by revamping boss mechanics and granting players who are able to complete them with best-in-slot gear, as well as rare mounts.
While these rewards are typically reserved for high-end players willing to test their skills against the hardest challenges Final Fantasy 14 has to offer, new expansion releases continue to increase character power, allowing those who originally missed out to revisit old bosses and claim their loot with relative ease. Among these mounts is the Alte Roite, a winged serpent modelled after the boss with the same name from Final Fantasy 5. Learn how to easily claim this mount by following this guide.

How to Get the Alte Roite Mount
The Alte Roite Prism is a unique reward with a 100% drop rate from the level 70 savage raid, Deltascape V4.0 (Savage). To unlock this raid, players will need to first unlock the Omega raid series by completing the level 70 Main Scenario Quest “Stormblood”. This will allow players to accept the quest “The Hunt for Omega” from Wedge in Rhalgr’s Reach (X:12.6, Y:12.4), beginning a quest chain that will take players through the four bosses of the Deltascape raid on normal difficulty. After defeating all four bosses and completing the quest “The Anomaly”, players will be able to interact with the Magitek Terminal in Rhalgr’s Reach (X:13.5, Y:12.5) and select “Access the Savage Initiative”, unlocking the savage difficulty version of all Deltascape boss fights.
Deltascape V4.0 (Savage) pits players against a digital recreation of Exdeath from Final Fantasy 5, and features attacks and special mechanics significantly more difficult than enemies from the Main Scenario Quest or dungeons. Fortunately, players are able to leverage the increased item levels introduced with recent expansions to defeat the boss with little difficulty. To do this, open the Duty Finder window and access the Duty Finder Settings by clicking the cog icon in the top left of the window. Enabling the “Unrestricted Party” option will prevent the game from syncing characters down to level 70 and allow players to fight Exdeath at their unrestricted power.
For those looking to beat the fight solo, playing a tank class is recommended, however, at the current maximum item level of 730, even some DPS classes are able to defeat Exdeath alone. Players struggling with lower item levels can also employ the same Unrestricted Party strategy with other players to defeat the boss even faster and avoid seeing some of the later boss mechanics. Some attacks and mechanics players might see during the fight include:
Attack Name |
Tips |
---|---|
Dualcast + Blizzard III |
Two avoidable sets of AoEs targetting each player’s location in quick succession. Stack together to reduce the amount of space the blizzards occupy, then dodge out. |
Dualcast + Thunder III |
A double-hitting tankbuster that can be lethal to players with lower item levels. Use defensive abilities to reduce its damage, or swap targets with tanks’ Provoke ability to split the damage. |
Dualcast + Fire III |
Two unavoidable AoEs, first hitting all DPS players, followed by all non-DPS players. Spread away from other players to avoid hitting each other. |
White Hole |
All players below maximum life are petrified. Players below half life are instantly defeated. Make sure to heal up before the cast finishes. |
Decisive Battle |
Stand next to the last tentacle to sprout. After getting knocked away, follow the tentacles as they swipe down and disappear, making sure to finish behind the head in the center of the arena. |
Grand Cross Alpha |
Stand in the center of the arena to avoid Hysteria forcing players off the arena. The first Flood of Naught will deal extra damage to the player closest to the boss and triggers the Off-balance debuff, knocking all players backwards. Stand still to avoid getting knocked up by Acceleration Bomb. A second Flood of Naught will display a blue triangle and purple prism, forcing players to stand on the half of the arena that is opposite of their White Wound or Black Wound debuff. |
Grand Cross Delta |
Players with the Beyond Death debuff will save players from lethal damage, leaving them at one health, but will result in instant death if lethal damage is not taken before its expiration. Players with this debuff should match their White Wound or Black Wound debuff with the boss’ Flood of Naught to take lethal damage. |
Many of Exdeath’s attacks will become more complex as more players are added to the fight, as there will be more players for the boss to apply debuffs to and target attacks on. Try to find a good balance between speed and complexity when creating a party.
