World buffs are a feature within World of Warcraft that was prevalent during the Classic era of the game. Within the new Season of Discovery, the world buff called Boon of Blackfathom is going to be extremely useful. We’re going to break down how players will be able to obtain this buff in WoW.
What is the Boon of Blackfathom in WoW Classic SoD
World buffs are unique to the early stages of WoW, and these are considered vital if you intend on doing end-game content such as Dungeons and Raids. Boon of Blackfathom is quite powerful, to say the least.
The world buff will increase the critical chance of spells, melee, and ranged by 2%, grants 20 attack power, and increase movement speed by 20%. Players will want to complete certain tasks around the world to activate them.

If you’re in the market to obtain this buff, then you’re first going to want to either be in Thunder Bluff or Darnassus, but there’s a catch. You’re only going to want to be here if a player is turning in the Perfect Blackfathom Pearl quest, which is obtained by picking up an item from Aku’mai, the final boss of the Blackfathom Deeps raid, also new to SoD.
So, you’re going to want to either chill out and wait for someone to pop this quest complete, or someone in your guild or even yourself may be able to start this quest once you kill the boss.
The item to begin the quest itself will always drop your first time defeating Aku’mai, so this is a nice catch, but it’ll be a troubling task to kill this boss as well!
