In The Front, farming is a straightforward way to secure a stable food source as not only do you need to survive against the elements and enemies amongst others, but you also need food to live. Who woulda thunk? But if you’re like many players, you might find the seed-planting process a bit confusing in The Front.
This guide will explain how to unlock the small crop plot, how to plant seeds, and the right way to do it. If you’re struggling with anything else The Front related, we’ve got guides such as How to Get Resin, Crude Oil, Polymer, followers, and more on our The Front page.
How to Plant Seeds in The Front – Farming Guide
First things first, you need a place to plant seeds in The Front. Head to the tech tree and navigate to the ‘Structures’ section. Scroll down and unlock the Fish Basket. Oddly enough, this also unlocks the Small Crop Plot, which is needed for farming and planting seeds. Build it and place it where you want your farm. I recommend putting the plot near a water source or a sprinkler system.
How to Plant Seeds in The Front
To plant seeds in The Front is somewhat confusing, and I can see why a lot of players are getting tripped up with it. Unlike other crafting stations, where you place the material in its crafting inventory and let it do its work. You don’t do that with the Small Crop Plot and seeds. Instead, place the seeds on your hotbar. Select the seed type you want to plant, and then press the corresponding hotbar number. A green circle will appear in the Small Crop Plot; this indicates where you can plant the seeds. Click, and you’re done.
If no green circles appear in a plot, it means it’s full of seeds. Repeat this all over the Small Crop Plot, and move on if you have others. Planting seeds in The Front is easy once you know how. Unlock the Small Crop Plot, put those seeds on your hotbar, and plant away. Now, you’re ready to grow your own food and take another step toward self-sufficiency.
