How to Defeat the Gigantus Quickly

Dragon’s Dogma 2 has quite a lot of missable trophies, and some of them can be more vague than others. One of the prime examples is the “Gigantus, I Hardly Knew Ye” achievement, which requires defeating the giant in a short span of time. The Gigantus boss is by no means tough, purely because the boss does not fight back. However, players have the objective to stop it.

Gigantus’ main body does not take any damage, so players will have to focus on shooting the glowing crystal rods stuck in its body. Climbing its body and striking the rods, taking them out one by one, is a great method. Alternatively, archers can simply aim and shoot the rods from afar. However, in 90% of the cases, these will count as slow methods and will not get players the trophy/achievement. So, the alternative method is to acquire an Unmaking Arrow.

Unmaking Arrow Sphinx Reward in Dragon's Dogma 2

The Unmaking Arrow’s description states that it is the ultimate arrow, capable of killing instantly. There are two ways to acquire the Unmaking Arrow. The first method requires completing the Sphinx Riddles in the Mountain Shrine and Frontier Shrine. There are ten Riddles, and completing the first five will allow the Sphinx to relocate to the second area. In the second set of Riddles, there is the Riddle of Recollection, which, upon completion, rewards you with the Unmaking Arrow.

The second method is much more convenient and quicker than the other method, mainly because you have to buy it from an NPC. You must talk to the same NPC in a quest leading to the Talos fight, which means that you can buy the arrow from his location at any time. The NPC is The Dragonforged, located inside the Bay Wayside Shrine northeast of Bakbattahl. He will trade you the arrow in exchange for eight Wyrmlife Crystals.

Once you use this arrow, the game will automatically save, stopping you from reloading from your previous save.

How To Defeat Gigantus Using The Unmaking Arrow

After acquiring the Unmaking Arrow, proceed in the main story to reach “The Guardian Gigantus” main quest. As Talos is moving towards the Volcanic Island, you will reach a point just before the bridge when you are close enough to even jump and climb it. At this point, you will need to go into your Equipment and equip a Bow. This can only be done by an Archer or Warfarer Vocation.

Bear in mind that Magick Archer bows will not work for the Unmaking Arrow.

After equipping the Bow, equip the Unmaking Arrow and shoot it at the Gigantus. This will cause an animation to appear and the boss to drop the spear it is holding. However, this will not trigger the trophy. You will have to wait a couple of minutes before it happens. You can follow the boss if you want, and after some time, the boss will fall to its knees, and you will get the trophy along with:
