Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty doesn’t have much in the way of big fights, but it does open up with a pretty impressive one. As you make your way to safety in Dogtown with the running president, you will find yourself up against a Chimera. These four-legged tanks are more than just an enemy; they’re a whole ordeal. You need to use your entire environment and an arsenal of Cyberware and weapons to take these monsters down. This fight comes early on in the expansion and can cause quite a challenge. Knowing how to beat the Chimera is a real refresher to anyone returning to Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty.
Defeat the Chimera in Cyberpunk 2077
Like most bosses, the Chimera has two stages, both quite similar, but stages nonetheless. For the first round, you’re going to want to pick away at health, and in the second, I would suggest all-out warfare. Be prepared to use a lot of cover, and put some serious steps in.
Chimera stage 1
To start this battle, you need to scan the Chimera to pick out all its weak points. They will be located at various vents and joints around the body. Once they are highlighted, retreat to the upper balcony that rings the whole arena. You will have adequate distance and cover there to start to take it down.
In short bursts and using the highest damage weapon you have, pick away at the various weak points on the Chimera in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty. I would recommend going to the joints on the legs first and using something like an explosive sniper rifle or precision rifle. You will only get short moments to pop out of cover and fire.
Beware of the rockets. The problem with these is that they will obliterate any cover you are behind, making the rest of the fight just a little harder. The laser has a huge warm-up, so once you hear it, pack up your gun and find one of the remaining pillars to get behind.
Once the Chimera has had its health dropped to about 50%, it will enter the next stage.
Chimera Stage 2
Stage two will begin with the release of both attack and defense drones. These need to be your priority, starting with the repair drones. They are all very slow-moving and can be dispatched in a few seconds each, but you want to keep the Chimera with as little health as possible.
Once these are all picked off, get back to hammering the weak points. You will need to scan the Chimera again to pick them out. I would recommend going for optics, which are located on the front of the turret. This will help cripple its aim.
Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty has been kind enough to give you some heavy turret guns to fight the Chimera. Provided you have the strength to pick these up, you can grab them and plug away at the Chimera. You will find these turrets in opposite corners of the balcony surrounding the Chimera.
Keep moving, and be patient. As soon as you see the laser attack, take cover, and when the rockets start to fly, I would suggest dropping the turret and running. Cover will not protect you from them and will only result in fewer places to hide when the lasers start flying.
