With the creative gamers now getting their hands on LEGO Fortnite and its endless creations, we can now teach you how to build a monorail.
This is great for if you have multiple bases and if you want to get from one place to another quickly. Here’s how to build it in your own world.
LEGO Fortnite: Monorail build guide
First off, I’ll be basing this build guide off of YouTuber A1Getdismoney’s build guide, but there are plenty of other creators who have made their own monorail builds. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to build your very own monorail in LEGO Fortnite.
Materials required
- x1 Dynamic Foundation
- x1 Activation Switch
- x4 Small Wheels
- x1 Large/Small Thruster
- x1 4x4x2 Wood Foundation
- 4x12x2 Granite Foundations
1. Lay down the tracks
The very first step is to find build or find an area that’s high up, which can be your monorail station. Then you’ll be needing a ton of Granite to create multiple 4x12x2 Granite Foundations that’ll act as the tracks. You first want to lay them out three in a row, then destroy the middle one.
I recommend you keep a wide section of these foundations near the start of the track for the monorail to bounce off of when it hits it. But now you can start walking along the tracks and laying down the same foundations. Once you make it to the next monorail station and desired destination, you can build another tower that leads up to the tracks.
Again, you want to place this Granite Foundation at the end of the track in the middle, then two on each side to widen it to a row of seven. This will help the monorail stop at the desired location. While we’re building the monorail, we’ll want to fill in the middle where the Dynamic Foundation will go so it doesn’t tip over. You can get rid of the middle after it’s done.

2. Monorail wheels
Now you can get your Dynamic Foundation and line up the two yellow rectangles alongside the edge of the monorail. This is an easy visual guide so the foundation is even and doesn’t tip over. Next up are the wheels, which will go underneath the foundation and on their sides.
I found this part tricky because the wheels wouldn’t always stick properly where I wanted. It’s fine if the foundation shakes a little, just place all four wheels at the corners, then try to push the foundation. If it pushes smoothly, you can continue to the next step. But if it’s janky, just break the wheels and try again.
3. Thruster and switch
Next up is the Thruster that will make this monorail run. Place a 4x4x2 Wood Foundation at one end of the monorail, the end where you want the engine to push out from. Then place either a Small or large Thruster on the side of it.
No matter where your Activation Switch is, it’ll activate the Thruster. So just place the switch wherever you’d like on the monorail. Now you can test it out! Hit the switch and see if the monorail goes smoothly. This is where I had trouble, for some reason it would go a little far, then stop. I believe it had something to do with the wheel placements.
If you place everything correctly it should move smoothly, so try moving things around to see if it works for you. Now you have a working monorail in your LEGO Fortnite world! With your monorail done, have you created a boat yet? We can help you out with that.
