A chain-smoking grandmother has yet to meet her two-year-old granddaughter after an Aussie family broke up over a broken wedding ring.

A caller came to The Kyle and Jackie O Show's snap predictions segment Tuesday morning to ask for advice about her feud with her own mother-in-law.

Alessia said she used her mother-in-law's jeweler to make her wedding ring for her wedding, but the couple had a rift after the craftsman altered the band too badly.

'He basically screwed my whole ring, aAnd then, yeah, we had a big fight about it,' the caller said.

She added that her mother-in-law had a history of cutting her family members out of her life over petty grievances.

'She doesn't necessarily talk to anyone in her family. It's like she cut off everyone in her family,' said the woman.

KIIS FM shock jock Kyle Sandilands commented: 'Oh, she's a bit of a stick in the mud.'

The caller confirmed: 'Yes she has a grudge.'

The struggling family wasn't the only one calling into the Kyle and Jackie O show in recent weeks. Kyle, 53, reached into his own pockets last week to help a Sydney woman who called him on his radio show.

The act of charity happened while Kyle and co-star Jackie O Henderson were playing their daily $10,000 pop quiz, which awarded listeners $100 for every question they answered correctly, or $10,000 for a clean sweep.

Rhiannon, a 23-year-old woman, called to play and revealed she was going to use $10,000 to buy her struggling parents a new car.

An emotional Rhiannon reveals her father lost his job while building a new house.

'Their car is coming outside,' she said through tears.

'Dad doesn't have a job at the moment and mum doesn't work a lot of hours so we're struggling. We are building a new house. So I want to do something good and help them.'

Unfortunately Rhiannon was disappointed as she only answered two questions correctly and walked away with just $200.
