Football has the Panda Game, but local basketball fanatics have their own celebration of the rivalry between the Carleton Ravens and the Ottawa Gee-Gees with the Capital Hoops Classic.
The Ravens and Gee-Gees again took regular-season matchups to TD Place Arena on Friday night, drawing an announced crowd of 6,137, several times more than they would attract to their home campus gyms, but with the same intense rivalry.

Led by 19 points from Kali Pocrnic, Carleton won the women’s contest 78-72. Ottawa’s top scorer was Natsuki Szczokin with 23.
The victory improved the Ravens’ record to 17-1, tops in the Ontario University Athletics East Division standings at 17-1. The Gee-Gees are third at 14-4.
The Carleton-Ottawa men’s game was played later.
