- Honor has shown off the strength of their new Magic V3 folding phone with some glitzy tests
- The two videos show the phone’s hinges in a hydraulic press and the phone in a washing machine
- Honor boasts the Magic V3 has meet increased industry standards for a folding phone
Don’t you just hate it when you accidentally put your fancy new smartphone in the giant, industrial hydraulic press you bought off of Temu? No? Just me? Well, fortunately, for those of you who do suffer from this incredibly common problem, Honor’s new folding phone has you covered. That’s because the Honor Magic V3 got serious stress-testing in a new set of shorts for YouTube.
Now, to be clear they didn’t actually put the Honor Magic V3 as a whole into a hydraulic press. That’d pretty much mess anything up, no matter how durably built. But they did a whole video showing off the strength of the phone’s titanium hinges, which is a top consideration for most people who are putting their faith in the new trend of folding phones.
The second video, which shows the Honor Magic V3 being put through an extensive cycle in a washing machine, also doesn’t specify temperature or time. But in either case, it’s still a somewhat impressive feat.
Waterproof, futureproof
Okay, to clarify, I know that there’s almost certainly some movie magic involved here, or at the very least the parameters will have been known beforehand to ensure that Honor didn’t have a more embarrassing outcome. Still, I’d suppose that it at least helps show off their claim that this is the first foldable phone to boast passing the 2.5m IPX8 Water Resistance Test, and for fans of those sorts of phones I’m sure that’s heartening to see.
