Today Blackbird Interactive and Gearbox Publishing announced a new release date for the upcoming sci-fi RTS Homeworld 3.
The game is coming to PC on March 8, 2024, and can already be pre-ordered on Steam.
This means that it has been slightly delayed again, but not by much. We had previously heard a February 2024 release window when it was delayed from the first half of this year. I’d say that’s quite forgivable. We have waited this long, so we may as well wait a few weeks longer.
A Deluxe Edition is also available for pre-order including the Year One Pass for $79.98, while a Fleet Command Edition for $97,96 also includes the digital soundtrack, 72 hours of early access, and and the Multiplayer Customization Set, which includes ship decals, profile banners, a multiplayer name color, and an engine trail color.

The game has certainly been a long time coming. It was announced all the way back in 2019 with a crowdfunding campaign on Fig.
The Homeworld series is quite beloved among sci-fi fans on PC. It debuted all the way back in 1999 developed by Relic Entertainment. It then sparked multiple sequels, the spin-off
Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak, a remaster of the first two games that launched in 2015, and a recent mobile game.
I actually played Homerworld 3 at Gamescom 2022, and I found it impressively good, which is why I was surprised when it was delayed out of 2023. That being said, it’s always great to see when developers are given the chance to let their games bake as much as possible.
Considering how beloved the Homeworld series is among its fans, a lot is riding on this game. Hopefully, it will deliver the grand return the series deserves.
