Lucas Hay (Oscar Curtis) is released from young offenders in Hollyoaks next week and he wastes little time tracking down the person he misses most: Dillon Ray (Nathaniel Dass).
The popular character is serving time for attacking JJ Osborne (Ryan Mulvey) after he discovered he sexually abused Frankie (Isabelle Smith).
Frankie, as viewers know, is Lucas's best friend, and the pair grew closer in episodes aired near the start of the year.
In terms of the Hollyoaks timeline, the events in question took place almost two years ago, after the Channel 4 soap made a historic time jump one year into the future.
Dillon, who has been dating Lucas for over a year, has been looking forward to his boyfriend coming home – but is also scared of what might be revealed when they reunite.
An unexpected twist last month confirmed that the father of Leah Barnes' (Ela-May Demircan) baby was none other than Dillon, meaning he cheated on Lucas – with her boyfriend's brother.
Frankie finds this out next week when she sees Dillon in the company of baby James, putting two and two together, which inevitably leaves her with a dilemma about whether or not to inform her best friend Lucas about what his other half has been up to.
Lucas stages his return to the village of the same name on Wednesday (October 16) and realizes that a lot has changed in his absence.
Frankie is delighted to have her best friend back, while Ste (Kieron Richardson) reunites with her son at the Lomax home, where Lucas meets his nephew for the first time – remaining blissfully unaware that Dillon is the father.
It's an emotional moment when Lucas tells Ste how much he misses him, fearing he'll never wake up from his coma.
He is nervous about going to see Dillon, but Leela Dexter (Kirsty-Leigh Porter) interrupts, saying that her boyfriend missed him so much, revealing that he was very supportive of Leah during her pregnancy.
At Price Slice, Frankie and Dillon get into a heated argument, with Dillon begging Frankie to remain calm. Frankie, however, refuses to keep the secret – that is, until Lucas spots her boyfriend and runs towards him as the two embrace for the first time in months.
Is Lucas' bubble about to burst? Will Frankie tell everything? Or will the boys' emotional reunion stop her from doing so?
Hollyoaks broadcasts Monday to Wednesday from 7am on Channel 4's streaming platform or watch the episodes on TV at 7pm on E4.
