Bayonetta future Hideki Kamiya

Although Bayonetta creator Hideki Kamiya has left PlatinumGames, he believes the series will continue on.

Kamiya commented on the future of the franchise in his latest YouTube video today. He again brought up his original idea of having nine Bayonetta games, but now that he’s gone from PlatinumGames, he “may have to take the full saga to the grave with me.”

That doesn’t necessarily mean Bayonetta is ending here, however. Kamiya believes the series will keep going, which makes sense as SEGA owns the IP and PlatinumGames can continue developing future titles.

Kamiya’s full words:

“I’ve talked about this in various interviews, that the Bayonetta series would consist of a total of nine episodes, and that I wanted to grow the franchise as the ‘Bayonetta Saga’, but it seems like I may have to take the full saga to the grave with me. It’s a shame. It’s not like I own the Bayonetta IP, but I suppose those who do will probably keep it going.”

In the same video, Kamiya also spoke about interest in revisiting both Viewtiful Joe and Okami. You can read about that here.
