Despite only being two months old, Helldivers 2 has seen a steady flow of updates and new content including new planets, weapons, and enemies. These new features are usually highlighted through Major Order events, which see players liberate planets by eradicating Automatons and Terminids, or defending controlled planets from them in order to keep a stronghold on democracy.
Like many previous events, the most recent Major Order tasked players with liberating a new collection of planets. Unfortunately, the Helldivers were unsuccessful as the timer expired before the final planet was liberated.
With the failure, Arrowhead Game Studios pivoted the story and now players are on the back foot and are defending planets from the Automatons in the current Major Order after the robots got the upper hand. Despite failing the Major Order, the developers have announced that all players are set to receive a free Fallen Hero’s Vengeance cape to honor our fallen comrades.
In a post on X, Arrowhead Game Studios announced it saying “The President of Super Earth has officially recognized this day as Malevelon Creek Memorial Day. This week, in remembrance, all Helldivers will be issued a special commemorative cape, so they may carry the memory of their fallen companions into battle.”
Although players failed the latest Major Order, it is good that Arrowhead Game Studios plans for both success and failure to progress the story.
