This weekend could be the most important in the history of Helldivers 2, as players have been tasked with completely eradicating the Automatons from the galaxy. For the past few weeks, all attention has been on the robots following multiple weeks of dealing with the Terminids. After failing a recent Major Order, players now must redeem themselves by delivering a full-on assault against the robots to permanently remove them from the game. Although players fumbled a bit at the start by focusing on the wrong planets, things are now going in the Helldiver’s favor and victory is nearly upon us.
According to Helldivers.io, which keeps track in real-time of the progression of the current Major Order, Maia could be liberated within the next seven hours, with the other planets following shortly after. Currently, Automaton production has been decreased to just 0.5% per hour due to the recent efforts of Helldivers 2 players who have come together to ensure this Major Order will be a success. This comes after players failed a Major Order earlier this week, which is being commemorated by Arrowhead Game Studios granting all players a cape to remind them of their failure. Based on current predictions, all planets could be liberated within the next 9-10 hours. With two days to spare, players will then need to defend the planets to ensure the Automatons don’t manage to recapture planets.
If all goes well, the Automatons should be completely eradicated from the game following the event, which will just leave the Terminids to deal with. But, this could lead to the arrival of the next foe that threatens Super Earth. It has been heavily rumored that The Illuminate is the next enemy that is set to arrive in the game, an enemy previously seen in the first Helldivers game.
With the end in sight and victory in our grasp, it is more important than ever to ensure the Automaton doesn’t regain a stronghold. Although defense missions can be incredibly frustrating, it will all be worth it in the end.
