We’ve learned Paramount+ has canceled their Halo live-action series based on the popular video games, not long after its second season.
The Halo live-action series was canceled by Paramount+ (via Variety) after its second season, which ran from February to March of this year. The show originally premiered back in 2022.
“Paramount+ can confirm that ‘Halo’ will not move forward with a third season on the service,” the streaming company said. “We are extremely proud of this ambitious series and would like to thank our partners at Xbox, 343 Industries and Amblin Television, along with showrunner and executive producer David Wiener, his fellow executive producers, the entire cast led by Pablo Schreiber as Master Chief and the amazing crew for all their outstanding work. We wish everyone the best going forward.”
The Halo live-action series sported a big budget and was co-produced by Paramount+, Xbox, 343 Industries, and Amblin Television. Though the show has been canceled at Paramount+, reports are noting showrunners are shopping it around to other platforms.
“We deeply appreciate the millions of fans who propelled the ‘Halo’ series to be a global success and we remain committed to broadening the ‘Halo’ universe in different ways in the future,” 343 Industries said. “We are grateful to Amblin and Paramount for their partnership in bringing our expansive sci-fi universe to viewers around the world.”
Originally proposed as a live-action film back in 2005 and at some point had Neill Blomkamp attached to direct. Eventually the project was switched over to be a TV series though it took over a decade for it to finally come to fruition and premiere.
