Rockstar Games has announced that it will release the first trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6 (VI) (GTA6) (GTAVI) in early December. The announcement came in a tweet about the studio celebrating its 25th anniversary.
The Rockstar Games account released a series of tweets stating that they were happy to see the series last so long. They gave some history, that the studio started in 1998 and was ” founded on the idea that video games could come to be as essential to culture as any other form of entertainment.” This may seem normal today but it was questionable back then if video games were true forms of media or just toys.
The tweet thread ended with Rockstar stating that a trailer for the next Grand Theft Auto would be released in December. To quote the studio:
“We are very excited to let you know that in early December, we will release the first trailer for the next Grand Theft Auto. We look forward to many more years of sharing these experiences with all of you.”
This is an exciting reveal and we are glad to know we’ll finally see a new Grand Theft Auto. What will be revealed in the trailer is still a mystery. The reveal trailers for GTA5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 give a great introduction to the world, setting, and story of their games. You just don’t really realize it until you play the game and see what it is referencing.
For example, in Red Dead Redemption 2, Arthur’s iconic lines about leaving the gang seem mysterious until you play the game. It’s the same with Michael De Santa explaining that he doesn’t want to be a criminal anymore. I expect that we will see the trailer’s voice actor speaking, and I definitely think it will be a female based on the leaks years ago.
