The day of reckoning foretold in legends has finally arrived, as Gryphline has released their real-time, turn-based hybrid RPG Ex Astris. Forge forward onto a planet of untold mysteries as you seek to unveil the truth behind the dread Astramorphs.
Players will step into the shoes of Yan, an Investigator who joins up with Vi3 to explore Allindo, a planet where the sun never sets, locking the world in eternal sunshine. Huge ring-shaped storms split the globe into two hemispheres, where all manner of wondrous creatures await you to discover.
One of the biggest features Ex Astris trades on is the Obscuran Maneuvers you can pull off in battle. When enemies attack, players can choose Warding Light to parry, or Shadow Shift to dodge, and tapping at the right time will grant these special Maneuver effects, making combat that little more interactive on defence. You will also need to master characters’ Wave and Particle states, using them to either lift or shatter enemies at the most opportune times.
If you are big into reaching every corner of the map then Gryphline gives you plenty of reason to do so. Astrite is needed to enhance characters or teach them skills, and you get this from battles or exploration. It is nice that you get some proper rewards out of this besides just a cursory present.
Of course, almost overshadowing all of this is the crossover with Arknights, dubbed When the Land Meets the Stars. Until March 12th, players will be able to unlock two special outfits, the Loose Uniform and Light Uniform, by simply linking to a Gryphline account. Arknight players can also claim two dolls to use in the Hypergryth hit. Both of these can be found on the event page.
Ex Astris is available now from the App Store and Google Play for $9.99.
