If you were eagerly waiting to watch the trailer of Grand Theft Auto 6 tomorrow, you have to wait no more, as Rockstar released it early.
The trailer was leaked on X (formerly Twitter) albeit it had a giant silly Bitcoin trademark on top of it, so Rockstar proceeded to get the leaker banned before I could even start writing. It was fast.
That being said, the powers that be obviously decided that it was better to ride the wave, and opted to release the official trailer immediately instead of waiting for tomorrow.
The trailer reveals a few things, including the two protagonists and the fact that the game returns to the old Vice City setting.
On top of that, we hear that we’ll have to unsurprisingly wait for quite a while to get our hands on Grand Theft Auto 6. It’s over a year away, as it’ll be released in 2025.
The accompanying press release also mentions the platforms as PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. No mention is made of PC, so it’s quite possible that the game will follow the same route as its predecessor, with a PC version released at a later time.
We also get a load of all the elements you can expect from a Grand Theft Auto game, including guns, lots of cars, races and chases, bikinis, and much more, all topped by the song “Love Is A Long Road” by Tom Petty. Looks like romance will be a pretty prominent theme this time around.
You can watch the trailer for yourself below.
Looks like Paradox delayed the early access of Stellaris Nexus for nothing.
Jokes aside, the trailer certainly looks good, with visuals that have definitely received quite a bump compared to Grand Theft Auto V, which was released all the way back in 2013 and has shipped a mind-boggling 190 million units in ten years as of the end of September 2023.
Incidentally, we recently learned from Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick that, should performance and voice actors strike against video game publishers, Grand Theft Auto 6 is “completely protected,” so at least that shouldn’t cause a further delay.
