Granblue Fantasy: Relink Has Sold Over 1 Million Copies

Today Cygames announced that its JRPG Granblue Fantasy: Relink has sold a whopping 1 million copies worldwide.

According to the announcement made on X (formerly Twitter), the achievement was reached in 11 days since the game’s release on February 11 for PC, PS4, and PS5.

Incidentally, the game passed 100,000 peak concurrent users on Steam shortly after its launch, making it one of the most successful JRPG releases ever on the platform, and the daily peak has never dropped under 100,000 since, which is certainly a testament to Granblue Fantasy: Relink‘s quality.

This success has been a long time in the making, as the game was announced in August 2016. Yet, many fans have been waiting to see it launch on home platforms even longer than that.

I was first exposed to Granblue Fantasy during my first visit to Tokyo Game Show. I got off the train at the Makuhari Messe station in Chiba, and I was immediately welcomed by rows of posters displaying the beautiful character art of the original mobile game, and I was immediately hooked.

When Cygames announced Granblue Fantasy Project Re:Link a few years later, I certainly wasn’t the only one extremely excited about it.

While the game has been delayed many times, and its original developer PlatinumGames left the scene, it’s nice to see that the long wait was worth it and delivered one of the best JRPGs in the past several years. If you’d like yo know the reasons why, you can read our positive review which awarded it with a 9.5 out of 10.

Granblue Fantasy: Relink is currently available for PS5, PS4, and PC and if you’d like to join its million players you can purchase a physical copy on Amazon.

If you’d like to see more before you jump in, there is plenty of recent footage to watch, including trailers showing Gran and Rackam, Narmaya, Io, and Siegfried, Katalina, Zeta, and Yodarha, Charlotta, Lancelot, Ghandagoza, and Vaseraga, Djeeta, Ferry, and Eugen, and Rosetta, Vane, and Percival, on top of the launch trailer.

The franchise extends beyond Relink and the original mobile game. Cygames also released the Arc System Works-develooped fighting game Final Fantasy Versus: Rising, and recently we got relevant news, including the release date of version 1.2 and 2B from NieR: Automata as a guest DLC character.
