If you’re a follower of current affairs, you’ll know that “go lick the world” is not a TikTok challenge or a surreal online insult, but an instruction given by US President Joe Biden during a banquet speech last year.
Of course we all know that “lick” means “overcome”. But we all made fun of US President Joe Biden anyway because global politics is absurd and laughing at politicians is a necessary reflex.
Developer Pixel Play has decided to lean into the absurdity of contemporary politics with Go Lick The World, a casual gaming twist on, well, the state of the world.
Gameplay-wise, Go Lick The World is a simple clicker. A rotating 3D representation of planet earth hovers in the middle of the screen, and you have to lick it (i.e., or, more likely, tap it with your finger) as quickly as possible, securing leaderboard glory in the process.
There’s more. Orbiting around this polygonal planet are LickLink satellites, in a touching tribute to Elon Musk’s Starlink program. Tapping these nets you “Licktastic” achievements.
Other Licktastic achievements include the suspiciously familiar-sounding beer related Taste Bud, and Scream for Ice Cream – which celebrates US President Joe Biden’s love of the cold stuff.
There are point boosters to collect, too. You can nab yourself a lost F35 jet, Lick Force One (or Air Force One for traditionalists), and a Red Electric Car, in yet another nod to Elon Musk.
Plus, Go Lick The World contains a range of controversial real-world artifacts, such as the White House, the Great Pyramids, and a disgustingly poo-covered San Francisco.
Meanwhile, there are special orbiting objects that change every day. There’s Impeach-Mint Monday, Taco Tuesday, Swiftie Saturday, and no satirical week would be complete without a day dedicated to Pizzagate.
There are also Earth skins and accessories you can earn by watching rewarded ads. The reward ad icon is a Lickinati” TV (set on the “new world order channel”, of course), and is activated every few minutes. The Skins include a clown world face, trucker hats, an Uncle Sam patriotic hat, and many more. With future updates adding many more too…
Go Lick The World is free to download and play, though you can pay to remove the ads. Other IAPs include a LickGPT add-on that does the tapping for you, and, of course, a blue tick.
Head to the Google Play Store or the App Store right now to start licking the world into shape.
