HoYoverse has revealed the Genshin Impact Version 4.8 release date, and the new update is bringing a new summer map to enjoy, as well as a new character and much more, later this month.
Arriving on July 17th, Genshin Impact Version 4.8 introduces the new Simulanka map, which has “new stories, seasonal events, [and] rich rewards” to enjoy, as well as new looks for Nilou and Kirara.
As ever, a new character will also debut in this version: Emilie, a 5-star Dendro polearm wielder and perfumer. She’s got a unique damage-over-time ability called the Lumidouce Case, which can be upgraded to deal extra damage if enemies are Burning.
Emilie will debut alongside a Yelan rerun in the second half of Version 4.8’s Event Wishes, while the first half will bring reruns of Navia and Nilou.
You can purchase Nilou’s new outfit in the game’s store, but you can unlock Kirara’s alternate look by accumulating the Excerpts of Bliss resource, which you’ll find by exploring Simulanka, collecting Jubilant Feathers, and opening Fairytale Troves.
HoYoverse has also lowered the cooldown rate for World Bosses costing 40 Original Resin dramatically; it’s been reduced from five minutes to just ten seconds, so you can use up your Resin more quickly.

Genshin Impact is an open-world gacha action RPG developed by HoYoverse, the studio that’s also responsible for gacha games like Honkai: Star Rail and the recently-released Zenless Zone Zero.
Released in 2020, Genshin Impact combines Breath of the Wild-style exploration with combat based around elemental combos and team synergies. It’s also got an epic story that will take you across the length and breadth of the continent of Teyvat.
