Fortnite’s OG season has proven incredibly successful, so much so that many players have demanded its permanence. Luckily, Epic Games is listening.
While the original map and content from Chapter 1 will indeed go away today after the Big Bang Live event featuring popular singer Eminem, it doesn’t mean that they’re gone forever.
Epic Games has announced on X (formerly Twitter) that the OG season will return at some point in 2024, as it has “far exceeded expectations.”
What does that mean in terms of numbers you ask? The developer just announced that Fortnite has broken another record, achieving a mind-boggling 100 million active players in November. That’s certainly a whole lot of players for a game that actually started with a mixed reception before turning things around.
This follows another broken record at the beginning of the season when the game recorded 44.7 million players logging in within a day.
If you’re unfamiliar with Fortnite, the ultra-popular game is available on nearly every platform that can currently run a game. It’s free-to-play and it inevitably relies heavily on microtransactions, battle passes, and even a subscription, and it includes plenty of collaborations with popular IPs like My Hero Academia, Futurama, The Witcher, and many more.
Of course, special events are also part of it, and you can also grab skins dedicated to Celebrities, like Eminem himself, with a ton of skins and accessories currently available in the store, or F1 driver Lewis Hamilton, whose goodies are also purchasable at the moment of this writing.
In other Fortnite news, you can visit the island dedicated to The Game Awards to vote for the best player-created island, also taking part in a series of platforming challenges to earn yourself an XP bonus. Just keep in mind that it lasts only for a single match, so you’ll have to decide whether it’s worth your time.
