The first major update of Fortnite Chapter 5 is around the corner. The new chapter received a lot of content in its first two weeks, but this has eventually slowed down. Epic Games had a winter break, which is why Fortnite has only received smaller content updates over the past few weeks.

Fortunately, the content drought is nearing its end. With the release of the v28.10 update, Fortnite will receive a lot of new content. Not only will the Battle Royale mode get new additions, but other modes will too, including LEGO Fortnite and Rocket Racing.

Here are our early patch notes for the upcoming update. These notes are based on leaks and the official information confirmed by Epic.

The next Fortnite update will bring map changes and super styles

If you’re a Battle Pass owner, you have a lot to look forward to in the next update. Solid Snake, a bonus skin, will finally be obtainable once the update comes out. On top of this, several skins from the pass will receive super styles. At the moment, it’s unknown what these new styles will look like. However, they will likely be full recolors of existing skins, just like it was the case in the past.

Since the v28.10 Fortnite update will be major, it will bring many new cosmetic items to the game. These cosmetics will be released to Fortnite’s Item Shop over the course of two to three weeks, while the update will also add necessary files for the Fortnite Crew pack for February 2024.

Finally, the Petercopter glider will also be unlockable, and other secret cosmetics will be revealed.

Besides cosmetic items, Epic Games will release several gameplay changes with the next Fortnite update. The snow, which currently covers most of the map, will melt in many areas, and a dark forest biome will be revealed.

Furthermore, with the release of Solid Snake, the Creepin’ Cardboard item will return. This item was shown in the Chapter 5 Season 1 trailer, and considering that the popular Metal Gear character uses it, we expect it to return within a few days. We also expect a few more loot pool changes to arrive with the patch.

Reality Augments will also return during the first season of Fortnite Chapter 5, and this may happen once the v28.10 update comes out. Finally, Epic will release new weekly challenges, although not all of them will be enabled right away.

In addition to Fortnite Battle Royale, the upcoming update will bring new content for other game modes as well. Many new LEGO Fortnite features have been already leaked and may arrive this week, including vendors and new weapons. Rocket Racing players might get a new map, while Fortnite Festival will receive new Jam Tracks and possibly instruments.

Keep in mind that these are just early patch notes. A lot of other content will come with the actual update, and if we find out more information about it, we will update the article. Finally, it’s important to add that this will be a major update. Due to this, we expect Fortnite server downtime to last for a few hours.
