With the arrival of Fortnite Chapter 5, it stands to reason that a completely new battle pass littered with several themed goodies would be making its way into the game. The introductions of Rocket Racing and LEGO Fortnite, in particular, make the latest iteration of the seasonal microtransaction even more enticing to the casual player. However, one of the rewards included with the latest battle pass has sparked debate among fans: the Scorpion Car Body.
Despite the Chapter 5 Season 1 battle pass containing plenty of exclusive new prizes, including the Gold and Fancy Peter Griffin skin in Fortnite, the Scorpion cosmetic for Rocket Racing has become one of the community’s main talking points after one player called it the “worst point of the battle pass” on Reddit. Though the post creator failed to provide a reason for their scathing label, it’s presumably because it requires a significant amount of grinding to unlock it.
Other fans would then chime in with their own opinions of the reward, with one commenter saying that they’d “rather grind out for a car for 950 V-Bucks than buy them for 2000 in the item shop.” In addition, many of the responses below the same thread shared a similar sentiment after a different player noted: “Compared to prices in the shop, this is a freaking steal,” while another said: “[I] like the cars in the battle pass. At least now I don’t have to pay for one.”
Of course, with Rocket Racing proving to be a hit with most players, this surely won’t be the last Car Body we see as a reward in future battle passes. But until a new season comes, you’ll just have to wait to find out what Epic Games decides to do with their seasonal microtransaction.
