The latest Fortnite update that marked the return of the original island is proving extremely popular among the fans of Epic Games’ battle royale game.
Today the developer announced that yesterday was the biggest day in the history of the game in terms of players who logged in.
The announcement was made via X (Formerly Twitter), sharing that the game had achieved over 44.7 million players who logged in in a day.
We also learn the total of gameplay hours for the day, which is 102 million hours. That’s approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes of gameplay per player, which is certainly sizable.
Apparently, a whole lot of players wanted to try the thrill of enjoying the island that launched in late 2017 with Season 1 and received several iterations until its retirement with Chapter 2 in late 2019.

If you’re not familiar with Fortnite, it’s Epic Games’ take on the popular Battle Royale genre. After a slightly slow launch, the game has become one of the most popular in the world, as the numbers mentioned above likely showcase.
Of course, it’s free to play and reliant on microtransactions and battle passes for revenue, and includes plenty of crossovers and collaborations with popular IPs like My Hero Academia, Futurama, The Witcher, and many more.
In other Fortnite news, we recently learned that all experiences built within its increasingly popular Unreal Editor are getting an age rating, regardless of whether they’re made by Epic, third-party companies, or single users.
This will become effective starting on November 14, so the deadline to get experiences rated is coming closer.
