Former MasterChef judge Melissa Leong was left red-faced after an 'awkward' food-related gaffe aired over the weekend.

Melissa developed the eating bug while participating in a Channel 10 quiz show. Sunday night.

Panelist Ed Cavali asked the TV gourmet what her go-to soup was — an innocuous question that threw Melissa for a loop.

Distraught at being put on the spot, Melissa offered 'Chicken Noodle Soup' as her answer.

While chicken noodle is the most popular soup, Melissa revealed that it didn't make it into her top 10.

Her hasty response sent the star into a low-key anxiety spiral, causing her to ponder her 'days' answer.

'This is not my favorite soup. Why would I say that,' Melissa told news.com.au. 'It happened on Sunday and I'm still sitting on it.'

Melissa said her soupy slip-up, while never coming close to chicken noodles, prompted her to think about some of the best she's tried in her life.

'[I’ve since been] I think back to all the wonderful soup memories I've had in my life in Hong Kong, a bowl of beautifully plump wonton noodle soup with red vinegar. Soaking the soup,' she said.

The food critic was fired from MasterChef Australia last year amid rumors of a feud between him and fellow judges Andy Allen and the late Jack Sonfrillo, which he has denied.

She went on to host the MasterChef spinoff series Dessert Masters with Amaury Guichon.

The former cooking show host has teased another new show after stints in sports reporting, children's television and the health industry.

'All will be revealed soon, but I'm working on another show,' the 42-year-old told The Daily Telegraph this week.

It comes after Melissa announced she was fulfilling a childhood dream by appearing on ABC's Playschool.

'I grew up watching Play School,' she recently began in her caption on Instagram.
