If you’re wondering how to get the For The King 2 Local Coop working then so are we! Games are better fun when shared with friends (sometimes). So, we went on a hunt to figure out how the local co-op works in this second installment versus the first since it doesn’t quite work the same…

For The King 2 Local Coop

So, let’s discuss the differences and how to get your Local coop campaign set up.

How Local Is Local?

In For The King 1, players could connect separate controllers for their local coop campaigns and each controller would trigger on their turn. However, in For The King 2 this formula has been flipped. Players can now only enjoy local coop if they share a controller between them. This means you’ll have to pass it between you and your party during play.

Don’t worry, this local coop still works offline like the original did too. So you don’t have to worry about the online multiplayer campaigns like distant coop players do. The developers of For The King 2 did share some insight on this choice too and highlighted it on Reddit saying:

“We’ll be implementing multi-controller co-op next year which will enable players to still use the same screen but use multiple controllers without the need to pass.”

So, great news for local coop players! Passing the controller at the ends of turns will hopefully be phased out next year bringing back the multi-controller play.
