Jurgen Klopp has been heavily criticized for his move to Red Bull. Now, the 57-year-old has commented for the first time and defended his decision.

Jurgen Klopp's move to Red Bull as its new “head of global football” three weeks ago caused huge concern in the football world.

Klopp has now broken his silence on the 'Einfach mal Luppen' podcast with Toni Kroos and Felix Kroos. There, he spoke for the first time about his new commitment to the Austrian energy drink maker.

The German made it clear early on that he did not want to be a coach at the moment, so Red Bull's offer was just the right move for him. “I don't think at the moment I'm going to sit back, but I'm also very clear that I'm not going to do nothing,” Klopp said in explaining his decision. The long-time Liverpool coach was then contacted by the beer company, He was flabbergasted: “Honestly, to me, it was pretty outstanding.”

Klopp also admitted that he never had anything to criticize about Red Bull. “I agree 100 per cent with RB's football philosophy,” Klopp said on the Kroos Brothers podcast. When asked about criticism that teams in the group have a financial advantage over other teams, Klopp explained:

“When I played with Liverpool against RB Leipzig in the Champions League, Leipzig didn't have any players that other clubs couldn't have.”

Watson's comments on Klopp's move:

For the 57-year-old, there are also some good examples of Red Bull not indiscriminately pouring money into teams. “Players like Willy Orban, Kevin Kempel and Yusuf Poulsen have been at this club for ten years and are absolute legends of the club and will definitely be so in the future.” Bo said that Red Bull has now established a certain image in international football: “Going to this school will definitely be good for your career.”

Although fans of former clubs such as Borussia Dortmund or Mainz have harshly criticized a move to Red Bull, Klopp does not now have a negative attitude towards these clubs:

“I definitely don't want to step on anyone's toes. I love all the clubs I've played for.”

The 2018 Champions League winner is also well aware that he cannot please everyone and will receive criticism. Klopp is now looking forward to his new assignment and is excited about previously unknown work. Jurgen Klopp will officially start working at Red Bull on January 1, 2025.

For many fans, Red Bull remains a thorn in the side:

BTW: If you want to live like Jurgen Klopp – and make the necessary changes – you can realize your dream now. Liverpool Football Club is selling the villa of its former coach for £4 million. Klopp succeeded his predecessor Brendan Rodgers after taking office in 2015.

Liverpool subsequently purchased the property and offered it to Klopp for free. The Reds see it as an investment so that future coaches can live there as well. But Arne Slott has decided not to move into the house where Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard lived between 2005 and 2015. That's why the club now wants to sell Formby House in north Liverpool. (Ritz)
