PlayStation’s latest State of Play presentation recently went live to showcase a lineup of exciting upcoming releases for Sony gaming platforms, including Square Enix’s highly anticipated 4v4 online party shooter, Foamstars. In addition to a brand-new trailer, PlayStation has announced that Open Beta for Foamstars is scheduled to run from September 29, 9 PM PDT to October 1, 11:59 PM PDT.
Since its first reveal during the May 2023 PlayStation Showcase, Foamstars has captured the interest of fans of online multiplayer shooters. The game boasts a striking 3D anime visual design and initial impressions suggest it has similarities with Nintendo’s Splatoon in terms of gameplay.
In June 2023, Foamstars was featured in the Summer Game Fest Play Days, providing attendees with an exclusive opportunity to try out the demo version of the game. Reports from those lucky enough to try it out have been overwhelmingly positive, with many stating that the game exceeded their expectations. With the open beta launching later this month, eager fans will finally get to experience the exciting features of Foamstars and even contribute feedback for its further enhancement.
In Foamstars, players will engage in an exciting online co-op battle, controlling characters equipped with various foam-blasting weapons skills and Super Star Skill. With the freedom to experiment with different skills, players must knock out their opponents and dominate the arena.
Two exciting game modes, “Smash the Star” and “Happy Bath Survival,” will be available during the Foamstars Open Beta. In Smash the Star, players must defeat the star player, while Happy Bath Survival challenges them to dominate the arena in teams of two with support from their allies on the outside of the arena. Eight unique characters will be playable during the Open Beta, including Soa, Agito, Tonix, Jet Justice, Mel T, The Baristador, Rave Breaker, and Pen Gwyn.
