Square Enix’s open beta for Foamstars is now live on PS5. Unfortunately, the multiplayer shooter is already facing issues. The official Twitter revealed that user access is currently “concentrated,” resulting in matchmaking errors and long queue times.
Unfortunately, the only solution seems to be to attempt matchmaking again. Hopefully, queue times will improve as the beta progresses. It’s live until October 1st, 11:59 PM PT and doesn’t require a PlayStation Plus subscription. You can choose from eight characters, and there are two 4v4 modes, Smash the Star and Happy Bath Survival.
The former requires scoring seven knockouts and becoming the Star Player while eliminating the enemy team’s own. The latter is a 1v1 affair infield with players on the outfield supporting.
Foamstars launches in early 2024 for PS4 and PS5. It’s unknown whether there will be another beta, especially given the current issues, so stay tuned in the coming months for updates.

We apologize for the inconvenience but would appreciate it if you could try matchmaking again if you are affected by this issue.— FOAMSTARS (@foamstarsgame) September 30, 2023
