Final Fantasy XIV producer and director Naoki Yoshida took some time on New Year to visit players on the Japanese server Chocobo, and he answered some questions.
As reported on the Japanese blog Umadori Shokuho, some of the questions and answers were a bit facetious, but there certainly were some interesting snippets in this improvised Q&A session.
We learn that new housing exterior designs will come after the release of the upcoming Dawntrail expansion (version 7.0).
The developers are also working hard to change the way Viera and Hrothgar headgear is implemented, so Yoshida-san encouraged fans to wait for the results.
The new dye system that will permit the coloring of two different areas of each outfit will be showcased later this week (on January 7) at the Fan Festival in Tokyo.
With 7.0 we’ll get larger item capacity for housing, but this is just the beginning of more work on other item-capacity areas as well, including more Glamour slots.
To a user mentioning they are looking forward to large-scale content like Eureka or Bozja in Dawntrail, Yoshida-san answered “Yay, look forward to it.”
He also teased that new character creation options may come after the graphics update included in version 7.0.
Another user wondered when Dawntrail is going to release, and whether October could be considered Summer. Yoshida-san answered that October isn’t summer in his calendar.
It’s worth mentioning that we might hear about the release date on Sunday, during the keynote of the Fan Festival in Tokyo, albeit this is my speculation, not Yoshida-san’s words.
