Those who can’t wait for the upcoming launch of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth may be excited to hear of reports that a demo for the highly anticipated RPG sequel seems to be on the way.
While as yet unconfirmed by Square Enix, the X (formerly Twitter) account PlayStation Game Size – which scrapes the PlayStation’s backend to report on changes – has claimed that a Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Demo has been found in the PlayStation Store backend, which will presumably give fans an opportunity to get their hands on with Cloud’s epic saga ahead of the full Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth release date on February 29, 2024.
While we’re waiting for an official confirmation, it does seem very likely that a demo will indeed be on the way – the previous Final Fantasy 7 Remake also got a demo just a month before it launched – and given Sony also announced at the end of this week’s PlayStation State of Play broadcast that we’d be getting a specifically Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth themed second broadcast next week, the pieces are certainly fitting together.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth demo predicted release date
We think it’s a fairly safe bet to assume that the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth demo will likely drop right after (or during) the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth State of Play broadcast, scheduled to take place on Tuesday February 6, 2024.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth demo predicted start time
Again, the demo hasn’t been confirmed by Square Enix just yet, but we’d expect it to go live not long after the broadcast ends. Therefore, we expect the demo will be live to download on PlayStation 5 just as the clock strikes midnight GMT on February 7, 2024. That’s 4:00pm PT or 7:00pm ET on February 6 for our US friends.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth demo rewards
According to PlayStation Game Size, anyone who plays the demo will get themselves a reward for doing so – namely, the Kupo Charm – Survival Set. We’ll update once we get official confirmation that this is the case. The account also claims that the demo’s PlayStation store page is flagged for data transfer, which implies that it may retain your save data and let you carry on from your progress in the demo once you get the full game. Once again, we’ll confirm when all this is confirmed by Square Enix.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is set for a February 29, 2024 release exclusively on the PlayStation 5.
