Nintendo could have even more in store for F-Zero 99, and the game might be receiving an interesting Mario vs. Donkey Kong event at some point in the future.
That news comes from LuigiBlood, who datamined the game’s latest update. The supposed Mario vs. Donkey Kong Festival event for F-Zero 99 would include a Mini Mario League, and 4 Star Rivals called Mario, Mini Mario, Donkey Kong, and Toad.
As of now that’s largely what we have to go on. Only text was found, and it was not localized in most languages other than English. Possibilities for content include new music, new machines, and new emotes to unlock. However, we’ll need to wait and see if the event actually comes to fruition.
LuigiBlood suggests that the event could happen for the anniversary of Mario vs. Donkey Kong on Switch. The game launched back in February, so we could get the event early next year. It’s worth noting that NST worked on the Mario vs. Donkey Kong remake (as well as other entries in the series) and has been handling development of F-Zero 99.
F-Zero 99, which has been available to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers, has been going strong since its debut just over a year ago. A few major updates have come out, including the latest one last week. We have the patch notes for version 1.5.0 here, featuring new tracks and much more.
Thanks to LuigiBlood for the datamine news.
