The Game Awards 2023 promises to be the perfect end to a stellar year for video game releases. This has been one of the best years of all time for gamers, and hopefully, 2024 will be anywhere near as good. Geoff Keighley’s event is always special with the award speeches, but a huge part of the ceremony is the trailers and announcements. Ahead of its start, here you will find some exciting Game Awards 2023 leaks, rumors, and predictions for possible major announcements and trailers. None of these are confirmed to be happening, but speculation is high.
Make sure you’re aware of the Game Awards 2023 start time so you can watch the event live. In addition, although the odds are not in your favor, be sure to enter the Steam Deck giveaway as it’s quick, easy, and completely free. Furthermore, the event is planned to run for three and a half hours, so you may want to think about ordering some takeaway and getting some popcorn and snacks.
We’re in for a very long show, and it should be a fantastic event. There are always major announcements and trailers, and some of the biggest reveals may have already leaked.
Game Awards 2023 leaks and rumors
One of the biggest leaks for the Game Awards 2023 is the possible reveal of Arkane’s next game. YouTuber Nate The Hate has claimed on his podcast that Arkane will announce a new game and it is not Redfall 2. He doesn’t know what the project is, but people are speculating Dishonored 3 or Deathloop 2. Either that or something entirely new.
Away from Arkane, God of War Ragnarok DLC has also leaked. It hasn’t leaked for the Game Awards specifically, but the leaks claim it will be revealed before the end of 2023, making TGA the most likely place. Although termed DLC, it’s speculated that it could instead be a ‘half-sequel’ similar to Spider-Man Miles Morales and Uncharted Lost Legacy starring Chloe and Nadine.
Another leak is the reveal of a brand new EA game. It’s reportedly a new EA Originals title called Tales of Kenzara ZAU. Rather than a mega-blockbuster, it is supposedly a 2.5D action platformer. There’s nothing about EA’s Iron Man, but a different superhero we could see is Blade. This comes courtesy of a thread shared on ResetEra.
Reliable leaker Billbil-kun has also shared that there is a Brothers: Tale of Two Sons remake in development and that it may be revealed at The Game Awards. Other rumors suggest that the Baldur’s Gate 3 Xbox release date announcement will also see it join Xbox Game Pass day one.
Game Awards 2023 predictions
Some Game Awards 2023 predictions include a gameplay trailer for Death Stranding 2 and a release date for Hellblade 2. It also seems likely that God of War Ragnarok DLC or ‘half-sequel’ will be revealed as per leaks. Sony could also possibly make the event even bigger for PlayStation by providing a new trailer for Marvel’s Wolverine as all we have seen so far is a very brief teaser.
Wonder Woman would be nice to see at The Game Awards 2023 too as it hasn’t been seen in two years. We expect to see more Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League because of its fast-approaching release date in February. Unfortunately, despite speculation of Persona 6, we don’t think it will be revealed as Atlus is planning to showcase Metaphor: ReFantazio. It’s possible a Persona 6 teaser could happen, but it seems unlikely as it would probably overshadow ReFantazio.
What would be massive is a teaser for Tomb Raider 12. We know the game is in development by Crystal Dynamics using Unreal Engine 5, and it will be published by Amazon. Reports have suggested Crystal Dynamics committed to a reveal this year while speaking to investors, and development has reportedly been full throttle since leaving Marvel’s Avengers, so fingers crossed that a reveal does happen before 2024 arrives.
Naughty Dog also has multiple projects in development, so we think we could possibly get a reveal from them. Naughty Dog shared in May 2023 that they are working on a brand new single-player experience they hope to show more of soon, so hopefully The Game Awards is the place.
Finally, Baldur’s Gate 3 seems destined for Xbox Game Pass, and you could guess it will drop on the platform right away. Indiana Jones from Bethesda would also be huge for Xbox, and it would be nice to see after the disappointment of Starfield.
