Currently, many celebrities and institutions are leaving Elon Musk's social media platform X (formerly Twitter). The trigger is likely to be Donald Trump's historic victory in the presidential election in early November.

American actress and Oscar winner Jamie Lee Curtis leaves X on November 13. She has more than 745,000 followers and shared a photo of her deactivated X account on Instagram. She didn't say why she left the platform, but she did post a famous prayer:

“God, please give me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change. The courage to change the things I can. And the wisdom to recognize the difference.”

The British newspaper The Guardian left X on November 13. She believes the platform has more disadvantages than advantages. This is a toxic media platform that Musk uses to influence political discourse.

The New York Times reporter who helped set the paper's direction left X on Nov. 12 for rival platform Bluesky.

The Berlin International Film Festival, one of the most important film festivals, will also bid farewell to X. It said in a post that the platform would be leaving in the new year.

stephen king

Renowned horror author Stephen King announced on November 14 that he was leaving X in a post.

As recently as January 2023, he also stated that he would not leave Twitter for the time being. He basically said, “You can’t fix something by turning your back on it.”

st paoli football club

The football club from Hamburg's St. Pauli district will also leave X and move to alternative platform Bluesky. The club said Elon Musk has “turned Twitter into a hate machine”.

Swiss politics

Federal Councilor Baume-Schneider announced at the end of October that she would be leaving X to communicate on Instagram.

Federal Councilor Beat Jans is also said to be considering leaving the platform.
