Eden Confidential: Former BBC newsreader Angela Rippon celebrates 80th birthday with four birthday parties

Angela Ribandika is sure to come to the party and dance with her jaw-dropping high kicks.

The former BBC newsreader enjoyed not one, not two, but four bashes to celebrate her 80th birthday.

'I don't really know what it's like to be 80, and I have no intention of finding out,' she tells me at an afternoon tea party at the Royal Garden Hotel in Kensington, London, where she's joined by her strict partner. Kai Whittrington.

'I wish I could spend as much time on this perch growing up as a shame, because it's so much fun.'

She was presented with a five-tiered pink cake by the volunteer organization Phoenix Fun Events Team, which featured rice paper pictures of her cooking.

Acland's Family Farewell

Raised in poverty – thanks to a miserly father who enjoyed a string of mistresses – he became one of our favorite actors, appearing in 130 films, while being devoted to seven children, 35 grandchildren and his wife Rosemary. 23 great-grandchildren.

But now, almost a year after Jos Ackland died aged 95, his family are saying goodbye to the old rectory in Devon, where Rosemary, who died in 2002, also found sanctuary after the death of their son Paul.

Tucked away in a 4,600-acre Clovelly estate, the eight-bedroom house is listed for £1.4million – something that would have been unthinkable for baby Jose, who moved from a rented basement to the next flat.
