Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni apologizes to fans for booing them after victory: 'I'm sad and disappointed'

Philadelphia Eagles Head coach Nick Siriani wasted no time in apologizing for his behavior on Sunday before getting into a heated argument with his own fans at Lincoln Financial Field after a win over the Cleveland Browns.

Siriani was caught taunting his fans after a 20-16 victory over Cleveland in a game in which Eagles fans chanted “Fire Siriani” from the stands and a slow start to the game ended 10-10 after a blocked field goal. Browns touchdown.

Syriani watched the crowd late in the game when it was clear the Eagles had won AJ Brown. Returning from injury, quarterback Jalen took a deep ball from Hurts to secure the win. He turned his ear towards them and was seen shouting something.

His actions forced many people to spread their views on social media, with Super Bowl champion Damien Woody angering the Syrian on ESPN's Monday morning show “Get Up,” calling him a “clown” for inciting fans in this way.

During a call with reporters on Monday, Siriani was asked about the tweets directed at fans and whether Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie had spoken to him about it.

“No, we talk to Mr. Lurie every time after the game. I haven't talked to him today,” he began. “I know how much Mr. Lurie supported me in everything.

“Let me put it this way: yesterday I really tried to bring energy. Yesterday energy (and) enthusiasm. I'm sad and disappointed with the way my energy was directed at the end of the match. My energy was training with our guys, motivating and that should be celebrated, I should have had better knowledge and more discretion about when to use that power and this time I didn't.

Eagles confrontation with Nick Siriani among fans is 'clown behavior', says Super Bowl champion

Eagles fans weren't happy with Siriani's start to the 2024 campaign, even though the Eagles were 3-2, just behind the Washington Commanders, for first place in the NFC East.

However, Philadelphia hasn't looked like the dominant team expected this year considering the talented roster it has. Sirianni even decided to shave his head during the team's bye week in an attempt to turn things around after a loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Woody was among those who reacted to Siriani's actions on Sunday, saying fans had the right to boo him and the Eagles once the season started.

“What kind of clown behavior is this, bro? This guy is a clown,” Woody said. “So seriously. You are seriously talking nonsense to your fans. Your fans? Look, people come here and pay you big money to see you present your product. When you don't do well, they have every right to boo you. Stick to your feelings because the fans boo you because your team stinks?

“Then you take the kids to the game after the game to soften the blow of what reporters might ask you about. This guy is just a clown, bro. I have no respect for what this guy is doing. “Everyone just beat the terrible Cleveland Browns and then you want to tell the fans nonsense.”

Immediately after the match, Siriani, like Woody, said at a press conference with his children that he was “excited to win” and that he appreciated the support of the home fans.

Syriani coached the Eagles to a Super Bowl appearance against the Kansas City Chiefs during the 2022 campaign, and despite not winning the Lombardi Trophy, Philadelphia started 10-1 in 2023.

Siriani, however, found himself in a difficult position among Philadelphia fans after the team lost five of its final six games last season before being eliminated by the Buccaneers in Tampa Bay in the wild-card round.

The Eagles are still a very good team that currently has a chance for the playoffs. However, if things continue to be a rollercoaster for them, fans will surely continue to shower the Syrians with boos, whether they are home or away.
