EA Sports College Football 25 will feature the Heisman Trophy for the most outstanding player in college football but other major awards will not be included. According to Phil Nakos of On3, the National College Football Awards Association declined an offer from EA Sports, claiming it was not adequate for the awards rights fee.
That means official names for other major awards, like the Bednarik, Biletnikoff, Davey O’Brien, Doak Walker, Grozo, Jim Thorpe, Maxwell, Outland and Ray Guy awards, will have generic names instead. For example, the Doak Walker Award could potentially be renamed the Running Back of the Year Award or the Receiver of the Year Award, replacing the Fred Biletnikoff Award and so on.
The article further explains that although there’s still a possibility of reaching an agreement, it’s too late to incorporate the awards into the game this year. EA has consistently emphasized prioritizing college football players, and with over 10,000 players already opting-in, they are well on their way.
