Dozens injured, at least 22 killed in Beirut airstrikes as tensions escalate in Israel-Iran conflict

As a result of the raid on Beirut, at least 22 people were killed and dozens of others were injured by Israeli airstrikes. According to the Associated Press, neighborhoods in Lebanon were beaten.

The latest attack, the deadliest in more than a year of war between the warring countries, further escalated the conflict with Iran-backed Hezbollah fighters.

Lebanon's health ministry told the AP that the airstrikes targeted two apartment buildings in separate neighborhoods at the same time, demolishing an eight-story building and destroying the lower floors of another.

The Israeli military told the AP it was investigating the reported attacks. Israeli airstrikes have become increasingly common in Beirut's densely populated southern suburbs, where Hezbollah bases much of its operations.
