Donald Trump has a lot to do in the US election if he wants to win the White House. Disturbing news about his mental state and his attitude toward Adolf Hitler has earned him a lot of negative press lately. The 78-year-old can still count on a loyal following.
The average MAGA fan can be summarized by three attributes: white, male, and disconnected from mainstream media. In order to re-mobilize his base, he devoted himself to the final sprint of the US presidential election.
In a three-hour interview with podcast guru Joe Rogan, he talked about the economy, an allegedly stolen election, and aliens.
Life on Mars and the attack on the entertainment industry
The meeting discussed a range of issues. Trump doesn’t need to be prepared for any rigorous journalism or even fact-checking. Rogan gave Trump a platform to promote his campaign slogans and let him talk about conspiracy theories, the war in Ukraine and the coronavirus pandemic.
Among other things, Trump complained about the way he was treated by the American entertainment industry. “They used to love me,” Trump complained, but now he is constantly being “treated unfairly,” firing poisonous arrows on ABC's “The View” with Whoopi Goldberg.
When it comes to environmental protection, the situation is equally unfair. Trump angrily said legal and environmental regulations impeded progress. Meanwhile, Trump said offshore wind farms were killing whales in large numbers. “I want to be a whale psychologist. “There's something that does this to them,” Trump said.

Of course, the podcast wasn't without its attacks on Trump's campaign rival, Kamala Harris. “Can you imagine her being on this show?” Trump asked, to which Joe Rogan responded in the affirmative. “She's just going to lie on the floor…” Trump began, before Rogan made it clear he'd love the chance to do a podcast with the Democratic presidential nominee.
Trump warns business people not to hold political office
Trump claimed the interview with Harris would end with a medical call. “She would be lying on the floor, unconscious,” Trump said, alluding to an oft-charged allegation that Harris is always asked extremely simple questions. That doesn't line up with reality given what analysts said was a tough interview Harris gave last week on Trump's favorite Fox News channel.

Things got weird when Trump started talking about extraterrestrial life. Speculative conspiracy theories about the “Joe Rogan Experience” have a long history. Trump gave his two cents and explained: “I've talked to fighter pilots and they're very solid people.”
They reported to him strange flying objects “traveling four times faster than an F-22, which is a very fast jet.” In Trump’s view, “there is no reason not to believe that there is no life on Mars and all these planets.”
Trump once again scored a verbal own goal, which should encourage observers critical of his mental state. Because he warned against putting business people into political office: “It is very dangerous to elect people other than politicians because politicians will be checked over and over again.”
Trump explained that having CEOs of large companies in power is particularly worrisome. Neither Trump nor Rogan seemed to notice that Trump was confirming one of his biggest targets of criticism.

More 125cc motorcycle accidents, a failure to take minutes of federal government meetings and ignoring warnings about swaying trains: these and more can be found in the Sunday papers.
The number of accidents involving new drivers of 125cc motorcycles has almost tripled since the law was changed. According to “SonntagsZeitung”, the Federal Roads Office (Astra) recorded 580 accidents involving teenagers aged 16 to 18 last year. More than 20% of drivers were seriously injured. The main causes of accidents are lack of driving experience, excessive risk of lane guidance, and lack of concentration. Starting from 2021, teenagers under the age of 16 are allowed to drive motorcycles with a displacement of 125 cubic centimeters. Annual sales of these motorcycles have nearly tripled since the law was changed, the newspaper wrote.
