The music mogul is facing multiple rape and sexual assault allegations

Sean “Diddy” Combs has been accused of raping a woman as “payback” for suggesting he was involved in Tupac Shakur's murder.

In the lawsuit filed in California, Ashley Parham also claims that the musician threatened to cut her face with a knife in retaliation for her comments.

Combs has not yet responded to the allegations, but has consistently denied all claims of sexual assault.

He also previously denied any involvement in the 1996 drive-by shooting that killed rapper Tupac Shakur in Las Vegas.

The murder has never been solved, although former gang member Duane “Keffe D” Davis was charged with murder last year. Davis, whose trial will begin in March 2025, previously claimed that Combs offered him $1 million (£769,000) to punch Shakur.

In legal papers filed in California on Tuesday, Ms. Parham claims she caught Mr. Combs' eye after meeting one of his friends at a bar in 2018.

The friend “tried to impress” people by making a video call to Mr. Combs, but Ms. Parham refused to participate because she believed the rapper “had something to do with the murder of rapper Tupac Shakur.”

The lawsuit claims that Mr. Combs overheard her comment and said he would “pay” for it.

About a month later, a friend invited her to his home, asking for help with taking anti-cancer medications, and she says Mr. Combs showed up unexpectedly.

Ms Parham claims the rapper then approached her “with a knife, held it to the right side of her face and threatened to give her a 'Glass smile' in retaliation for her previous statements.”

Then, according to the documents, Mr. Combs ripped off her clothes and “brutally” raped her with a television remote control.

During this ordeal, Mr. Combs allegedly told her that her life was in his hands and that if she wished, he would never see her again.

Ms. Parham claims she was then raped by multiple people “until she finally lost control of her body and couldn't move it.”

Ms. Parham says she eventually tried to escape, but was confronted by Mr. Combs, who offered her money to confirm that the rape was consensual.

According to the lawsuit, she ran to neighbors for help when shots were fired at her. They had already called the police after hearing a commotion in the neighborhood.

Ms. Parham claims she told the Contra Costa Sheriff's Department that she had been gang raped by Mr. Combs and his associates, but no further action was taken.

Three weeks later she was admitted to hospital and staff called local police. However, Ms Parham says none of her police reports resulted in an investigation.

She is suing Mr. Combs and six others for sexual assault, battery, abuse, false imprisonment and kidnapping, and is seeking a jury trial.

The BBC has contacted his lawyers for comment and is similarly awaiting a response from his co-accused.

The charges against Mr. Combs could result in life imprisonment

Ms. Parham's case is the latest of more than a dozen complaints of rape, sexual assault and physical violence filed against Combs in the past year.

Six new cases were filed in New York on Monday himself, including allegations that he molested a 16-year-old boy at a party at his residence.

In response to the cases, the star's lawyers told the BBC that Mr. Combs “has never committed sexual violence – whether of an adult or a minor, male or female.”

They also described previous lawsuits as a “money grab” and a “clear publicity grab.”

Combs is currently in a New York City detention center awaiting trial on federal criminal charges of racketeering and sex trafficking.

On Tuesday, his lawyers filed a request to reveal the identities of his accusers to prepare for the trial, which is tentatively scheduled to begin on May 5, 2025.

They added that the number of anonymous accusations against Mr. Combs “irreparably damages” his “character and reputation.”

“These swirling allegations have created a hysterical media circus that, if left unchecked, will irreversibly deprive Mr. Combs of a fair trial if he has not already done so,” the motion concluded.

The music mogul's lawyers also argued for his release on bail, citing the “horrible” conditions he is facing Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center.

However, prosecutors denied that he posed a risk of intimidating witnesses.

The musician, who was one of the most influential producers in the hip-hop scene of the 1990s, is known for solo hits such as I'll Be Missing You and collaborations with Notorious BIG on songs such as Juicy and Mo' Money, Mo' Problems.

He took an extraordinary step posting on Instagram he was released from prison on Tuesday, wishing his two-year-old daughter a happy birthday.
