Diablo 4 has just kicked off the much anticipated Season 3, the Season of the Construct. Players have been able to experiment with their favorite builds with the new Seneschal Companion, allowing for more powers and abilities than ever before. Now, with the Lunar Awakening event, there’s even more fun to be had. When does Lunar Awakening kick off in Diablo 4? We’re here to let you know.
Diablo 4 Lunar Awakening Release Date
The Lunar Awakening event for Diablo 4 will begin on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, and will run until Tuesday, February 20, 2024. Starting on this date players will be able to begin celebrating the Lunar New Year in the game. In-game shrines will be imbued with special powers, which you can activate to have your character enjoy.
Lunar Awakening will be occurring in both the Seasonal and Eternal Realms, so any player will be able to enjoy the celebration and reap the rewards.
Diablo 4 Lunar Awakening Start Time
The Lunar Awakening event will kick off at 9 AM PST/12 PM EST/6 PM GMT worldwide on February 6, 2024. The event will continue until February 20, giving players plenty of time to enjoy the event and earn the rewards associated.

What is the Lunar Awakening Event in Diablo 4?
Something special is happening around Sanctuary during the Lunar Awakening event. Shrines are being imbued with legendary powers that bless those who interact with them. These blessings can boost your XP by 50%, and your movement speed by 30%, among other buffs.
You’ll also earn Ancestors Favor reputation while adventuring with these buffs, allowing you to unlock special rewards. In the Northern part of Ked Bardu, the head of the Lunar Night Market, Ying-Yue, will be able to give you fantastic rewards in exchange for the Ancestors Favor reputation.
Nightmare Dungeon Sigils and Nightmare Vault Sigils also have a chance to spawn an Ancestors Favor affix, which will spawn a Lunar Shrine just for that dungeon or vault. You’ll get an added bonus of 10% extra Glyph XP after completing the dungeon.
All Lunar Awakening Shrines in Diablo 4
During Lunar Awakening, there will be special Lunar Shrines to activate that allow you to use their fantastic powers. These Lunar Shrines will replace some normal shrines but still grant you the powers of both. You can tell that they are Lunar Shrines due to the dragon that will adorn them. Here are all the Lunar Shrines, along with the buffs they provide:
Augmented Lunar Shrine Effects:
- Artillery Shrine – Casts have a chance to summon a holy bomb.
- Blast Wave Shrine – Each explosion summons a cluster bombardment.
- Channeling Shrine- Increased attack speed and chance to reset cooldowns.
- Conduit Shrine – Summon frequent, powerful, shocking strikes.
- Greed Shrine – Chance to summon a Treasure Goblin. While the Shrine is active, 25 kills summons a Treasure Goblin, and 50 kills summons a second.
- Lethal Shrine – Chance to instantly execute a struck monster, causing Fear on surrounding monsters. Note: this includes Elites, but excludes Bosses and other Players.
- Protection Shrine – You reflect all incoming damage. Damage reflected scales with Level and World Tier.
You can immediately test out the new powers the Lunar Shrine has imbued you with by facing the Miserly spirit that will spawn once the shrine is activated.
Diablo 4 Lunar Awakening Rewards
There is a plethora of new rewards to receive, including six different Lunar-themed cosmetics to unlock, including for your armor and your mount. There will be ten different Ancestors Favor reputation levels to earn alongside these cosmetics.
Spend time adventuring in Sanctuary to earn these rewards, as well as the new Lunar Whisper bounties to complete to earn even more Ancestors Favor reputation.
