A Destiny 2 player has used the game to express their love for another iconic Bungie-created series. The character setup employs the robust armor selection available in Destiny 2 to recreate none other than Halo protagonist Master Chief as he appears in Halo: Combat Evolved.
Though the Halo franchise has been in the hands of Microsoft-owned 343 Industries since 2011, many Halo fans still strongly associate Bungie with the brand. Bungie itself has recognized and celebrated this history informally within Destiny 2. In late 2021, the Destiny 2 Bungie 30th Anniversary DLC pack contained a number of all-but-explicit visual references to other Bungie titles, including the original Marathon series, Myth: The Fallen Lords, and Halo: Combat Evolved. The Halo references included an exotic Destiny 2 sidearm called Forerunner and patterned after the iconic Halo Magnum pistol.

Destiny 2 Player Uses Armor Synthesis to Recreate Master Chief
Destiny 2 player Falcxn1 showed off their creation on the DestinyFashion subreddit, a Reddit community dedicated to showcasing the outfits and looks Destiny 2 players can create. Falcxn1 used armor parts meant for a Titan character, mixing and matching pieces through the Destiny 2 Armor Synthesis System to get a look similar to Master Chief’s iconic MJOLNIR powered armor suit. They then completed the look with Prime Palette, a cosmetic shader that roughly matched the telltale green coloration of Master Chief’s armor.
Though the overall look of Falcxn1’s Guardian (complete with a Forerunner sidearm in hand) isn’t an exact match for Master Chief’s well-known design, the silhouette and coloration are close enough to masquerade for the Chief in passing. The mix of parts draws from multiple Destiny 2 Titan gear sets across different gear rarities and content seasons. These include the low-end Midnight Oil Helmet and Hardcase Brawlers arm pieces, but also the seasonal-exclusive Deep Explorer Plate and the Righteous Mark from the Bungie 30th Anniversary content. The Sunbreak Greaves ornament is normally found in the Destiny 2 premium Eververse store.
Customized looks like Falcxn1’s underscore both the versatility of Destiny 2’s cosmetic system and the dedication of the fans who extract killer looks from it. This is because acquiring many cosmetic options to use in Armor Synthesis depends entirely on a player’s ability to earn more and more pieces of armor by playing the game – and in some cases, buying from the store. Even cosmetic shaders usually need to be earned by random drop or through certain feats and activities. Thus, it takes a pretty dedicated player to assemble just the right combination of parts to turn their Titan into Master Chief or bring popular characters like Homelander to Destiny 2.
