Chairman of the local Democratic Party in North Carolina He resigned this week after being arrested for allegedly destroying and stealing signs supporting former President Donald Trump.
Lowell Simon, now the former chairman of the Moore County Democratic Party who is running for the North Carolina House in November, was charged with two counts of criminal possession of political signs.

The Moore County Sheriff's Office said a deputy working in the West End area saw Simon removing the campaign sign from the curb along Seven Lakes Drive on Thursday at 5:25 p.m.
“The deputy, who at the time was responding to an unrelated call, later followed Simon to the residence, where marks were found on his vehicle,” according to the department. “Simon admitted to having removed the plates, which were later recovered and returned to their original owner.”

An arrest warrant was issued for Simon on Saturday. He was released “on a written promise to appear in court” and his first court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 30, according to the sheriff’s office.
