A new report led by Judiciary Committee member Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, D-R.I., is “nonsense” and “a continuation of the Democrats' law against Judge Brett Kavanaugh,” according to the Republicans' top nomination adviser at the era.
“We follow normal procedure for investigating the background of a Supreme Court nominee,” said Mike Davis, former chief nominations counsel to former Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa. “And the Senate does its own investigation.”
Davis is also the founder and president of the Article III Project.

The White House is among other Democrats on the Judiciary Committee, including Chairman Dick Durbin, D-Ill., who have made significant efforts to investigate the personal relationships of Supreme Court justices such as Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas, as well as calling for immunity from high-profile cases.
Critics say the investigations and demands made by senators are an attempt to undermine the legitimacy of conservative justices and the Supreme Court.
The White House released a 32-page report Tuesday outlining the findings of a six-year investigation into the FBI's investigation into Kavanaugh while he was nominated as a Supreme Court justice.
According to reports, the Democratic members of the Judiciary Committee are the White House, now-Chair Durbin, and Sen. Chris Coons, D-Del. and then Sens. Patrick Leahy and Kamala Harris sought information about the FBI investigation following Kavanaugh's final confirmation.
In a statement, the White House said: “In 2018, I promised Christine Blasey Ford that I would continue to dig deep, no matter how long it took, and would not give up on Senate Republicans and the Trump White House's shameful judge confirmation process. . Kavanaugh, the least victims like Dr. Ford and Deborah Ramirez deserve is a full investigation.
For Wisconsin Democrats, a 2024 battleground state looks like a win
“The FBI’s lack of investigative standards helped the Trump White House thwart a meaningful investigation into the allegations against Kavanaugh, denying senators the information they need to fulfill their constitutional duties. The FBI must develop real protocols so that senators and the American people can get real answers – not fabricated false information.” – The next time serious doubts arise about a nominee late in the confirmation process.”
The report alleged that the FBI's routine screening of then-President Donald Trump's nominee was “flawed and incomplete,” the White House “prevented the FBI from interviewing relevant witnesses and following up on allegations,” and the administration “refused” to authorize basic investigation measures that may reveal facts that support the allegations.”
Democrats cited documents Trump told reporters The FBI was “controlling” the Kavanaugh investigation at the time, adding: “They’ve already done everything. They have the freedom to do what they need to do.”
“It is a foolish premise that these senators think the FBI will solve crimes in this particular appointment. They don’t have a role here,” Davis told Fox News Digital in an interview.
He also noted that providing reports to the Senate for review was a courtesy that began with President Clinton.
“The Senate should not rely solely on the FBI. The FBI does not work for the Senate. The FBI works for the president,” he said.
“They are trying to find out if the nominee has the character and aptitude to serve,” he stressed.
Davis further recalled that, at the request of several Republican senators, the Kavanaugh investigation was reopened and additional witnesses were interviewed. These Republicans were apparently satisfied with the additional interviews and voted to confirm.

Davis said Senate Democrats “refused to cooperate” during Kavanaugh’s confirmation process.
“We had witnesses testify live, including Christine Blasey Ford and Brett Kavanaugh,” he noted. “They came to testify live. And Senate Democrats say the FBI did not investigate all the allegations.”
“Thousands and thousands of tips arrived. These tips have been printed. Each of these tips was printed and distributed to the Senate for each senator to analyze”, he explained.
Davis said that not only could each senator have access to all the tips, but they could also request an investigation or “do the investigation themselves with their own team.”
Furthermore, he commented that “almost all of these tips were complete rubbish.”
“An alien landed in my house saying that Brett Kavanaugh had sexually assaulted me,” she joked about the nonsensical hints she dropped.
Davis said the report was “a pathetic attempt by the Sheldon White House to intimidate and whitewash Supreme Court justices before deciding important election cases as the election approaches.”
“Maybe Senator Sheldon White House had too many all-white Beach Club Mai Tais when he came up with this latest conspiracy theory,” he added.
A spokesperson for Grassley, who was chairman of the Justice Department at the time, said in a statement: “This report provides no new valid, substantive basis. It's important to remember that this comes from the same office that was stated by an individual who claimed to have seen Judge Kavanaugh assault a woman on a boat, when committee investigators looked into the matter, the man admitted that he lied and was subsequently subject to criminal referrals for perjury and obstruction of Congress.
“It is also important to note that the FBI's undercover investigation not only failed to prove any of the allegations against Judge Kavanaugh, including Ms. Ford, it undermined them. The White House senator might think he himself was 'satisfied' with the FBI investigation – just after the election. All of this information, along with the timing of this report a few weeks ago, should raise questions about its validity and purpose.”

Trump campaign spokeswoman Carolyn Levitt said in a statement: “This is another attempt to delegitimize the Supreme Court and pave the way for Kamala Harris to pack the court with radical left justices. A Democratic-led ploy to derail his nomination to the court that ultimately failed.”
Republican strategist John Feehery told Fox News Digital that Blaise Ford's allegations, if any, should be investigated, including “who he financed.”
“It’s part of the same strategy, which is to delegitimize the Supreme Court,” he said of the report and allegations from previous investigations of conservative justices and Democratic lawmakers.

The FBI declined to comment on the report. However, the FBI provided a statement regarding designated screening procedures. “The FBI, in its role as an investigative services provider, responds to requests from White House lawyers and other government agencies to conduct background investigations of candidates for certain positions. In these investigations, the FBI follows an established and long-standing process by which the scope of the investigation is requested. We have followed this process for decades, and there is no independent authority to expand the scope of the supplemental background investigation beyond the Kavanaugh investigation. Requesting agency parameters differ from criminal investigations where the FBI has broad guidelines. to make investigative decisions has the authority,” the statement said.
Ranking Members Lindsey Graham, RSC, Whitehouse, Durbin and the Supreme Court did not provide comment to Fox News Digital in time for publication.
