I don’t quite believe myself writing this but here we go; 2024 marks Pokemon Unite’s third anniversary, and the Pokemon Company International is celebrating with a few nice events. The main celebration, however, comes in the form of Ho-Oh making its arena debut.
The magnificent fancy bird clocks in as a ranged Defender and possesses the rather annoying Regenerator ability. This allows Ho-Oh to restore HP if it doesn’t take damage for a set amount of time, so you can hastily retreat, regroup, and return to the action fresh.
Its Unite move, Rekindling Flame, will see Ho-Oh spread its wings, consume all the Aeos energy it has, and revive all knocked-out allied Pokemon, which is incredibly useful or really frustrating depending on what side you’re on. The more Aeos energy consumed, the more allies are revived, so stay stocked up for those clutch moments.
Alongside Ho-Oh comes four events, starting with the eponymous Commemorative Event lasting until August 11th. You will have one free die each day to roll, allowing you to advance through the event game board. Complete the mission given by the space and you can roll again, with 1,000 Divine Forest coins up for grabs to exchange for Ho-Oh’s Unite license.
If you are a fan of tower-defence modes but don’t want to download another App then you will be glad to hear Panic Parae Revival is back until September 4th. Protect Tinkaton from a slew of advancing wild Pokemon, with help from a few allies that can be called to provide a quick attack to help turn the tide.
Until September 2nd you can partake in the Charizard Unite License Distribution event, simply by logging in one day. Do that and you will get to pick between the license, a themed hat, or 100 Aeos coins. Finally, the new Battle Pass has kicked off with a black flame theme, lasting until September 4th, so check it out if you need some new gear.
Pokemon Unite is available to download from the App Store and Google Play.
